When Catherine Young founded One80 Law Group in 2018, she was determined to disrupt the traditional model of legal services and bring a more approachable, and more affordable, remote model to the community. Four short years and one pandemic later, Calgarians are increasingly receptive to conducting their legal transactions online and over a video call. In fact, most prefer it to spend their afternoon sitting in a stuffy law office waiting room.
I’m honoured to receive this award. It means a lot to me personally as I started my career in Calgary over 15 years ago and never dreamed this community connection was possible as a junior lawyer. It feels wonderful to be recognized for all the hard work and dedication behind this honour.
